Ramadan 2015: Concluding Reflections

In  a matter of 6.6 hours Ramadan is going to turn its back on us after completing a sequence of 29 days. *29 days* of spiritual and physical motivation. *29 days* of hard work. *29 days* of sincere ibadah. *29 days* of shshhhing our nafs  and delving into His orders. *29 days* of His remembrance. *29 days* of fajr practice that we loath to exercise. *29 days*  of inculcating the emotions of how the devastatingly poor would feel. *29 days* of brotherhood, love and affection. *29 days* of practicing prayer in congregation.  We all had our goals designed for particularly this month. For it is this month that the shayateen are locked up (minus our nafs) and we have an obligation from the divine in the form of commands being descended 1400 years ago.

Believe me , for some of the special ones of us Ramadan indeed had been a life changing experience. It was the most special for me last year. This year it has taught me other lessons. I have moved and I know so are you. You have achieved your goal and even if you have not then you must be somewhere amidst attaining it. For some others it must have taught some if not all things to remain firm to for the following year.  Either it is an act of sharing one’s food with his/her neighbours, attending daily, weekly or biweekly Quranic halaqas, memorising just one ayah from the Holy Qur’an each day, completing the entire Quran in a month, responding with utmost sweetness even to the most cutting words, managing to balance work, sleep and ibadah routine etcetera etcera. It helped! Did not it? It did! While it is either a small deed or a magnimous the intention to it is that prime factor which counts. Pure intention must be the part of our equation. If not that then no earnest practiced can be exercised. To all those celebrating Eid today we wish you a happy Eid Mubarak! To others happy jumatul wida!

Taqabballahu minna wa minkum. (May Allah accept it from us and you)

“Our Lord, let not our hearts deviate after You have guided us and grant us from Yourself mercy. Indeed, You are the Bestower.
